2001 Ford Thunderbird

2001 Ford Thunderbird at the Washington D.C. Auto Show 2000

The Thunderbird is back?

Those familar with the Thunderbird name know that this is a name that is an auto legend, one so rich in automotive history just above everyone has heard of it.  When Ford pulled the plug on the T-bird at the end of the 1997 model year, it was a sad day that ended 42 years of tradition.  Well Ford has decided to put the T-bird back into comission late this year as a 2001 model.  You may remark how similar the 2001 T-bird looks to the original 1955 T-bird that started the whole T-bird craze but that is just what Ford wanted.  Retro is now in and Ford is riding this wave with the 2001 T-bird.  When looking at the new T-bird it is obvious that with its beautiful lines this car will be a smashing success.  To backup its good looks will be a powerful 3.9 liter DOHC 32 valve V8 designed by Ford's Jaguar division.  The only problem Ford will have with the new T-bird will producing enough of them.  At a base price of around $35,000 there will be many waiting in line to purchase the all new 2001 T-bird.
